Nina Suomalainen appointed as Deputy Head of Mission in OSCE Field Operations Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Master of Political Science Nina Suomalainen has been appointed as Deputy Head of Mission in OSCE Field Operations Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 8 May. The main task of the mission is to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in meeting its OSCE commitments and progressing towards security and stability through OSCE's Dimensions of Political-Military, Economic and Environmental and Human.
The mission has personnel of over 500, and the Head of Mission is Fletcher M Burton from the U.S.A.
Suomalainen has extensive international work experience from several tasks in the EU, the UN and OSCE since 1993. Her tasks include working at the UN Development Programme (UNDP) office in Latvia, as an Advisor to the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, in the OSCE Field Operations Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina and at the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in Warsaw. Suomalainen has also worked as a Special Advisor to Elisabeth Rehn in tasks related to the Balkans and Palestine and as a Team Leader in Human Rights Assessment in Rwanda. For the previous years, she has worked for Finn Church Aid as Senior Advisor.
