Nato's Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer to visit Finland

NATO's Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will visit Finland on 8 November. The visit will be hosted by Minister for Foreign Affairs Ilkka Kanerva. The Secretary General will also meet President Tarja Halonen, Speaker of the Parliament Sauli Niinistö, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen and Minister of Defence Jyri Häkämies.

Discussions will include topics such as NATO’s Partnerships, NATO-led crisis management operations, and the NATO Response Force (NRF). Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will also deliver a lecture on "NATO Today and Tomorrow" at a seminar organised by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
