Ministers Häkämies and Stubb to a common export promotion trip to Japan

Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb and Minister of Economic Affairs Jyri Häkämies will make a common export promotion trip to Japan from 28 November to 1 December 2011.

The purpose of the visit is to promote the business opportunities of Finnish energy and environmental sector companies in Japan. The delegation includes several Finnish energy branch companies, among others.

During the visit, the Ministers intend to meet ministers responsible for Japanese trade and industry and foreign relations as well as representatives of major corporations, including Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yukio Edano, Vice Minister Hideichi Okada, Minister of the Environment Goshi Hosono and former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama. The Ministers will participate in a high-level Finnish-Japanese energy seminar that explores opportunities for commercial cooperation.

Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Stubb will visit the city of Sendai to get acquainted with the post-earthquake and tsunami reconstruction work. Rap artist Signmark, the Ministry for Foreign Affair’s special representative, will travel as a member of Minister Stubb’s delegation and perform in events targeted for deaf people in Sendai and Tokyo.
