Press release 52/2010
18 February 2011
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen made an export promotion trip to Angola on 15–17 February. This was the first official ministerial visit from Finland to Angola.
Angola has one of the world’s fastest growing economies. Following the end of the civil war in 2002, a dynamic reconstruction process began in Angola, and this means market potential also for Finnish companies.
Minister Väyrynen had many high-level meetings while in Angola. The visit was hosted by Minister of Commerce Maria Idalina de Oliveira Valente.
The ministers agreed on the preparation of a document on cooperation for the development of economic relations between Finland and Angola that would promote cooperation between both official bodies and companies.
Minister Väyrynen was accompanied on his trip by a 15-member delegation of business representatives organized by Finpro. The business forum, which the ministers also attended, drew wide participation and attracted much media attention.
