Minister Väyrynen to visit universities
Press release 48/2009
13 February 2009
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen will give a round of talks at Finnish universities, starting at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi on 16 February. The talks, open to the general public, will focus on topical trade and development policy issues. Besides the University of Lapland, Väyrynen will visit the universities of Jyväskylä (18 February), Turku (9 March) and Tampere (15 April) during this spring. The intention is to continue the round in autumn.
Väyrynen hopes to have direct and open discussion and exchange of ideas during the seminars. “Trade and development issues don’t often get enough attention among the general public. For this reason alone, I think it’s important that issues are raised for discussion on wider forums,” Väyrynen says.
The events are part of the trade and development seminars organised by Europe Information. More detailed information about the timetables of the seminars is available on the website of Europe Information, www.eurooppatiedotus.fi, and in regional newspapers.
