Minister Väyrynen to meet the President of IFAP

Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen will meet Jack Wilkinson, President of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP) in Helsinki on Friday, 8 February.
The topics of discussion between Väyrynen and Wilkinson are the World Trade Organization negotiations, world market prices for agricultural products, climate change, the role of IFAP in developing countries and Finland’s role in AgriCord, the body implementing IFAP’s development projects.
The IFAP membership consists of 115 national agricultural producer organisations from 80 countries and, through these organisations, more than 600 millions farm families. The organisation has General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. IFAP’s mission is to develop farmers’ capacities to influence decisions that affect them at both domestic and international levels.
