Minister Väyrynen to St. Petersburg

Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen will participate in laying the foundation stone for a shopping mall being constructed in St. Petersburg by the Finnish construction company SRV Group Plc. The ceremony to lay the foundation stone will take place on Thursday, 30 September.

The shopping mall is located in the Baltic Pearl district now under construction. The district is situated in the south of St. Petersburg, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. The Baltic Pearl development project encompasses an area of 205 hectares and, when completed, the district will have housing for about 40,000 people. The largest investor in the Baltic Pearl project is the government of China. The project itself is among China’s biggest ever investments in Russia.

In addition, Minister Väyrynen will visit the Technopolis Pulkovo Technology Park to be opened on Thursday and will meet representatives of Finnish businesses operating in St. Petersburg. Technopolis Pulkovo Technology Park is the first premises in Russia to be opened by the Finnish company Technopolis Plc.
