Minister Väyrynen and Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Issekeshev to meet in Helsinki

The sixth meeting of the Joint Committee of Finnish and Kazakhstan Governments will be held in Helsinki on 23 Februry. Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen and Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Aset Issekeshev will act as chairmen of the Joint Committee. The topics on the meeting agenda include bilateral trade and economic relations between Finland and Kazakhstan, innovations and energy efficiency. Minister Väyrynen and Deputy Prime Minister Issekeshev will also have bilateral discussions, in addition to which Issekeshev will meet Finnish companies acting in or aiming to enter the Kazakhstan market.
The trade and economic relations between Finland and Kazakhstan are becoming closer after the economic recession in recent years. The interest of Finnish companies in the Kazakhstan market is increasing, and the export promotion trip made by Minister Väyrynen in March 2010 was attended by an extensive business delegation. The President of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev has also named Finland a model country in the fields of education, innovation and high technology.
