Minister Stubb to Moscow

Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb will visit Moscow on Tuesday and Wednesday 25-26 October.
In connection with the visit, a meeting of the chairmen of the Finnish-Russian Economic Commission will be organised. Minister Stubb acts as Finnish chairman of the Economic Commission and Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov as Russian chairman. Minister Stubb and Deputy Prime Minister Ivanov will discuss, for instance, the world economic situation, and trade and economic cooperation between Finland and Russia.
The Economic Commission is tasked with development of the business atmosphere, removal of obstacles to trade and investments, review of joint projects, and establishment of connections between companies.
Minister Stubb will open the ‘Finnish Business in Moscow’ event of Finnish enterprises operating in Russia, and give a lecture at the Moscow School of Economics themed ‘Will the EU survive its current crisis?” and discuss with the students.
In addition, Minister Stubb will have discussions with Finnish companies operating in Russia.
Russia is Finland’s biggest foreign trading partner. Last year, the total value of trade was EUR 13.9 billion. Finnish businesses have made investments in Russia amounting to more than EUR 8 billion.
