Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs to visit Finland

Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs is due to visit Finland on January 18–19. Rinkēvičs is scheduled to meet both Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja and Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb.

Discussions with Foreign Minister Tuomioja will focus on bilateral issues, cooperation in the Baltic Sea region and EU enlargement. Foreign Minister Rinkēvičs and Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb will address the current economic situation in Europe and the EU budget framework for 2014–2020.

This is Mr. Rinkēvičs’s first visit to Finland in his capacity as Foreign Minister. Latvia’s new Government took office at the end of October 2011.
