Kari Ahlberg appointed Press Officer in Moscow

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Kari Ahlberg to the post of Press Officer at the Embassy of Finland in Moscow for a fixed term. The term of appointment is three years and it begins at the start of October.
Ahlberg transfers to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation, where since 2001 he has worked for Yle News as a foreign affairs journalist and as head foreign correspondent in Beijing and Moscow. Prior to this, from 1987 Ahlberg worked for various media as a freelance journalist in the Far East, in Hong Kong, Seoul and Beijing.
The press officer is responsible for the Embassy’s external communications and media relations and, in cooperation with the Consulate General in St. Petersburg, supports public diplomacy at the Consulate General branch offices in Petrozavodsk and Murmansk. The tasks also include the strengthening of Finland’s visibility and attractiveness and the development of Finnish-Russian networks and relations. In addition, he will participate in the planning and implementation of communications for projects of the Moscow Team Finland network.
Ahlberg holds the degree of Master of Social Sciences.
