UK Foreign Secretary William Hague to visit Finland

At the invitation of Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb, Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs William Hague of the UK will visit Finland on Monday, 23 August. Foreign Secretary Hague will deliver a speech in connection with the Foreign Ministry’s Annual Meeting of Heads of Missions and will have bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Stubb.
During his visit Foreign Secretary Hague will also meet with Prime Minister Mari Kiviniemi, Minister of Finance Jyrki Katainen and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen.
The two ministers for foreign affairs will discuss bilateral relations between Finland and the UK as well as topical issues in EU affairs, such as the European External Action Service as well as implementation of the Lisbon Treaty and the EU’s strategic partnerships. Other topics of discussion are foreign policy issues; for instance, the Middle East peace process and the situations in Iran and Afghanistan.
