Ambassador of Iran summoned to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs

Press release 204/2009
10 August, 2009

Ambassador Reza Nazarahari, the Ambassador of Iran to Finland, was summoned to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs today, 10 August. Secretary of State Pertti Torstila expressed Finland’s concern over the mass trial that began in Teheran on 8 August. Accused at the trial are two staff members of the French and British embassies to Teheran, a citizen of France and tens of Iranians.

Measures targeted at staff members of diplomatic missions of EU Member States and individual citizens of EU countries are measures against the entire Union, Torstila emphasised. The EU demands the immediate release of these people.

This is the third time the Ambassador of Iran was summoned to the Ministry in Finland owing to the aftermath of the presidential elections held in Iran in June.
