OSCE Helsinki conference to identify ways to successful prosecution of human trafficking

Enhancing national capacities to prosecute cases of human trafficking, taking into account the need for trafficking victims to be adequately protected and assisted will be the focus of an OSCE two-day conference that opens in Helsinki on Wednesday, 10 September.
The conference brings together experts such as judges and prosecutors from countries with significant experience in investigating and prosecuting trafficking in human being cases,. Eva Biaudet, the OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Tuija Brax, Finnish Minister of Justice, and Pietro Grasso, National Antimafia Prosecutor of Italy are the main speakers of the conference.
Tarja Halonen, President of the Republic of Finland, will deliver a speech and close the first day of the conference.
Local and national authorities, international and non-governmental organizations are invited to the conference. The conference will discuss issues such as victim/witness co-ordination, trans-border co-operation, victim protection, and present cases of both sex and labour trafficking.
