A new computer game and a thought-provoking poster campaign highlighting the priorities of the OSCE Chairmanship

Press release 439/2008
26 November, 2008

Intensification of the OSCE’s Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) efforts is one priority of the Finnish OSCE Chairmanship. In connection with this, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs has published a publicly accessible tetris-type computer game on the Internet, where everyone can try their hand at destroying small arms. There is no charge for the game.

The computer game is part of a campaign aiming to draw attention to the priorities of the Finnish OSCE Chairmanship. In addition to SALW activities, the priorities include increasing security and environmental cooperation relating to maritime and inland waterway transports and combating human trafficking. The posters “Bird Boy”, “Modern Slave Trade” and “Removing Small Arms” are part of the campaign on these themes. The campaign has been planned by the advertising agency Hasan & Partners.

Finland holds the OSCE Chairmanship for the calendar year 2008. The main event of the Chairmanship year is the OSCE Ministerial Council to be held in Helsinki on 4–5 December.
