Clinton’s visit to Finland cancelled

Press release 117/2010
19 April 2010

The visit to Finland planned by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for Wednesday, 21 April is cancelled. The reason is the flight restrictions over Northern Europe caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland. Secretary of State Clinton had intended to come to Finland as the guest of Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb ahead of the NATO meeting in Tallinn.

“In the present situation, cancellation of the visit is fully understandable. The forces of nature weren’t on the side of this meeting. I believe, however, that a meeting will take place soon in some other connection,” Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb states.
