Press release 126/2011
10 April 2011
The Embassy of Finland in Berlin has been one of the advance polling stations where it has been possible to vote in the elections for the Finnish Parliament. However, the Embassy ran out of the ballot slips needed for advance voting on Saturday, 9 April, which was the last day when votes could be cast in advance.
Voters who were unable to cast their vote owing to the lack of ballot slips will have the opportunity to vote tomorrow, Monday, 11 April at the Finnish Embassy, Rauchstrasse 1, 10787 Berlin between 7:00 and 20:00 hours.
Effort is made on Sunday, 10 April and Monday, 11 April to make this opportunity known to everyone who left his or her contact information.
The Election Act stipulates that anyone entitled to vote who has come to a diplomatic mission to cast his or her ballot during the advance voting period but was unable to cast his or her vote at that time may vote after the said time.
In advance voting in Berlin, 649 Finnish citizens have cast their vote. The figure for the previous parliamentary election in 2007 was 304.
At the Embassy in Berlin, citizens’ enquiries are answered by Consul Leena Meier, tel. +49-160-905 209 59 or +49-30-5050 3208 and by First Secretary Anu Pulkkinen, tel. +49-171-684 6249.
