Minister for International Development Sirpa Paatero to visit Myanmar

Minister for International Development Sirpa Paatero will visit Myanmar on 17–19 March. The purpose of Minister Paatero's visit is to promote bilateral relations between Finland and Myanmar as well as development cooperation in line with the country strategy published in January. The focus of the country strategy 's implementation will be on three priorities: education, natural resources management, and the development of democracy and the rule of law.

During her visit, Minister Paatero will meet with Minister for National Planning and Economic Development Kan Zaw, Minister of Education Khin San Yi, Minister for Environmental Conservation and Forestry Win Tun, and Minister for Immigration and Population Khin Yi. The programme will also include a visit to Myanmar's Census Office and Parliament.

The meetings will centre on Myanmar's present situation and development challenges, bilateral relations between the two countries, and global development issues, including Post-2015 negotiations and climate change.
