Foreign Ministry at Matka Nordic Travel Fair 2023

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will be present at Matka Nordic Travel Fair, held at Messukeskus in Helsinki from 19 to 22 January. Finns are again interested in travelling abroad after the pandemic years.

At the fair, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will be presenting its services for travellers and reminding them of travel safety: what does the Ministry’s travel advice mean, why submit a travel notification and take out a travel insurance?

The Foreign Ministry will even be on the stage at Matka Nordic Travel Fair. On Friday 20 January at 13.45, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari will be talking about tourism in Finland.  On Saturday 21 January at 13, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will be recounting his travel experiences. On Sunday 22 January at 12.30, specialists from the Foreign Ministry will be taking part in a panel discussion focusing on how to travel sensibly abroad and how to prepare for your trip.

Consuls representing Finland abroad will be giving practical advice on what to do before travelling and how to solve problems when travelling. Finns can turn to Finland’s embassies and other representations abroad when they need help, for example, if their passport has been stolen. The fair events will be hosted by Tuomo Meretniemi, a tourism professional and an experienced adventurer, sailor and author.

Come and meet specialists from the Foreign Ministry at the Ministry’s stand 6r50. They will advise you on what to do if you are in trouble abroad or if you have concerns about travelling to a particular country. You can get the latest information on travel safety at the Ministry’s stand, and even spin a wheel of fortune.
