New Head of Mission to Latvia

The President of the Republic appointed on 6 June Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Olli Kantanen as Head of the Embassy of Finland in Riga, Latvia, from 4 August 2014.

Kantanen will move to Riga from the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, where he is currently serving as Head of the Unit for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He has also worked in the Department for Development Policy, the Administrative Department, the Department for Europe, and the Department for External Economic Relations as well as in the Government Secretariat for EU Affairs.

In the Diplomatic Service, Kantanen has served in Tallinn and Berlin.

Kantanen started his diplomatic career at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1997.
