Embassy of Finland in Seoul is looking for a Fixed-Term Finland Promotion Coordinator (substitute during one-year leave of absence)

Cooperation between Finland and the Republic of Korea has been growing significantly during past years. The Embassy of Finland in Seoul together with other Team Finland stakeholders and Finnish companies facilitate this positive trend.

The Embassy is seeking a proactive and creative person to join our team to manage Public Diplomacy tasks and assist in other work in the Embassy as a Fixed-Term Finland Promotion Coordinator, substituting a leave of absence. The planned period for the assignment is from February 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. Finland Promotion Coordinator promotes Finland in Korea and carries out Embassy’s various public diplomacy and country branding activities under the guidance of the diplomatic staff.

These activities include:

• Planning and execution of Embassy’s events (eg. trade, education, culture, human rights, climate)
• Managing Embassy's website, Facebook and Instagram
• Following and analyzing Korean media including social media
• Performing translation assignments
• Organizing media visits from Korea to Finland
• Promoting media cooperation between Finland and Korea
• Assisting in high level and other visits
• Handling media arrangements, writing speeches and press releases and organizing press conferences
• Conducting other tasks as required

A successful applicant is expected to have:

• Suitable higher education background (minimum BA level)
• Relevant working experience
• Some experience in organizing events
• Some experience in the field of media

• High level of written and spoken Korean and English. (Finnish language skills are not required in this position; however, Finnish skills can be counted as an advantage between otherwise similarly qualified candidates)
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Good command of necessary digital tools, including social media and editing tools
• Good ability to be a team player as well as work independently
• Good organizational and time management skills including ability to work with multiple projects simultaneously
• Flexibility and adaptability with a range of different tasks in our relatively small organization

Working conditions

Working time follows Finnish office working hours, with occasional evening or weekend work. The contract terms are based on Korean Labor Law and the employee is locally hired by the Embassy. The working contract is planned to be for the period between February 1, 2023 until January 31, 2024. The Embassy is located in Kyobo Building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.
