Noah Wekesa, Kenya’s Minister for Forestry and Wildlife, to visit Finland
Minister for Forestry and Wildlife Noah Wekesa of Kenya will visit Finland on 1–5 June as the guest of Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen. The purpose of Minister Wekesa’s visit is to learn about the Finnish forestry sector and to discuss Finland’s support for development of Kenya’s forestry sector. During the visit Minister Wekesa and his delegation will learn about the Finnish forest administration, forestry research, private forestry and the forest industry.
Baltic Sea Action Summit in Helsinki a success
The Baltic Sea Action Summit that was held in Helsinki on Wednesday, 10 February was a success in the opinion of the arrangers. The summit attracted a large and high-level group of participants to Finlandia Hall to tell about their commitments to protect the Baltic Sea. The summit was hosted by President of the Republic Tarja Halonen, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen and Mr Ilkka Herlin, the Chairman of the Baltic Sea Action Group, who together convened the summit.
Foreign Minister Stubb: Africa should be seen more holistically than before
Africa’s strategic importance is constantly increasing. The continent should not be considered merely from the perspective of development policy but also from wider viewpoints of security and trade, Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb emphasised on 8 February at the launch of the policy paper “Africa in Finland’s Foreign Policy”.
Minister Väyrynen to visit Ethiopia and Kenya
Paavo Väyrynen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, will travel to Ethiopia and Kenya on 17–21 November. Topics of discussion during the visit include Finland’s development cooperation, familiarization with the development policy programmes of Ethiopia and Kenya, and Finland’s possibilities to supplement and support each country’s actions aiming at poverty reduction and sustainable development.
Minister Lehtomäki signed an investment protection agreement between Finland and Kenya
At an event held today in Helsinki, Minister of the Environment Paula Lehtomäki signed the agreement on reciprocal promotion and protection of investments between Finland and Kenya. The agreement was signed for Kenya by Minister for Cooperative Development Joseph W. N. Nyagah.
Kenyan Minister for Cooperative Development and an accompanying delegation on a visit to Finland
Joseph W. N. Nyagah, Minister for Cooperative Development of Kenya, and a Kenyan delegation representing cooperative enterprise is visiting Finland from 30 August to 3 September. The purpose of the trip is to learn about Finnish cooperatives and to sign an investment protection agreement between Finland and Kenya.
