Minister Blomqvist to attend virtual meeting of Ministers for Nordic Cooperation

Minister for Nordic Cooperation and Equality Thomas Blomqvist will attend a meeting of Ministers for Nordic Cooperation on 13 September. The meeting will be held virtually.

The main item on the meeting agenda will be the vision for the Nordic Council of Ministers adopted by the Nordic prime ministers in 2019. The ministers will exchange views on the mid-term review of the 2021–2024 action plan supporting the vision and on the future of the work on the vision. The vision is to make the Nordic region the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030.

“In a good seven years, the Nordic region will be the most sustainable and integrated region in the world. Recent times have highlighted the importance of the vision’s objectives on sustainability and integration. The mid-term review is a significant moment to reflect on how far we have come and how we can continue our work to achieve our vision,” says Minister Blomqvist.

Other topics on the meeting agenda are a Nordic Pavilion at the 2025 World Exhibition to be held in Osaka and the state and financing needs of the renovation of the Nordic House in Reykjavik. In addition, the ministers will approve the 2023 budget and the 2021 financial statements of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
