Markus Kokko appointed Press and Culture Officer in Tokyo

Markus Kokko

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Markus Kokko to serve as temporary Press and Culture Officer at the Embassy of Finland in Tokyo, Japan. The three-year term will start at the beginning of August.

Kokko has held different positions in Finnfacts, a media service unit which markets Finnish knowhow internationally. He has led the unit for several years. Based on his earlier career, he has a wide experience of the strategic planning and implementation of country branding work as well as of cooperation with international media.

Kokko holds a Master's degree in social sciences and an MBA degree.

The Press and Culture Officer's duty is to use communication, culture and other means of promotion to advance Finland's objectives and country brand among the key target groups in Japan. The purpose is the enhance interest in Finland as a partner of cooperation in various fields. In addition, the Press and Culture Officer fosters close contacts with the Tokyo Team Finland actors and participates in the mission's reporting tasks, as appropriate.
