Vacancy: Butler, Ambassador’s Residence, Embassy of Finland, New Delhi

The Embassy of Finland in New Delhi is looking for a locally employed Butler starting in August 2022. The vacancy is contractual.

Job brief

We are looking for a Butler to act as the responsible for running smoothly the work of the Ambassador’s Residence. Butler’s work is an important support function to the Ambassador’s daily routines in her residence.

Butler responsibilities include receiving visitors, making dining and entertainment arrangements up to diplomatic standards. You will help us to provide the best possible experience for our visitors and diplomats.

Responsibilities

  • Meet visitors when they arrive and getting them settled in the meeting area and/or dining area
  • Review event/ banquet arrangements incl. participation of planning and implementation of menu’s and ensure staffing, equipment and supplies arrangements
  • Serve meals and pour drinks for guests
  • Make inventories and purchases. Have a thorough understanding of foods and beverages in stock
  • Working together with cleaners/waiters to ensure all areas are cleaned and ready for functions
  • Run errands for the Ambassador when necessary
  • Keep up-to-date on policies on food safety and hygiene
  • Perform all duties with discretion, professionalism and a pleasant demeanor

Requirements and skills

  • Experience as a Butler or similar role in a diplomatic residence or hospitality industry
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to a fluid environment
  • Commitment to a high level of service
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with efficiency and discretion
  • Knowledge of Finnish cuisine and wine pairings is an asset
  • Willing to work flexible hours
  • Restarurant/hotel school or other relevant education
  • Good English language skills are required, Hindi and/or Finnish language skills are seen as an advantage.
  • Computer savvy individual
  • The equivalent of four years’ full time experience in similar position/industry

The Embassy offers a fair remuneration, pension scheme, medical benefits, bonus and labour standards will apply. There will be a probation period of 90 days.
