Joint Meeting of the UN Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Digital Cooperation and the Global Tech Panel

Today, UN Secretary-General António Guterres' High-level Panel on Digital Cooperation and the Global Tech Panel convened by EU High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini will hold a landmark joint meeting in Espoo, Finland at the invitation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and in cooperation with Nokia.

Meeting together for the first time to bring their collective expertise to bear, the two Panels will focus their discussions on global governance in the Digital Age, and how societies can prepare for challenges and opportunities ahead, including those emerging from AI and data. They will also consider practical ways to leverage digital technologies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Panels are united in their aspiration to mobilise the entrepreneurial drive of the tech sector while protecting the values the United Nations and the European Union have helped build. This is the spirit in which they will meet today: genuine, practical, problem solving collaboration; and the openness to build new coalitions of leaders from the worlds of government, technology, academia and civil society.
