Finland to offset air travel emissions during its presidency of the Council of the EU
Finland will offset emissions from air travel during the Presidency of the Council of the EU. This will be achieved by funding projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and simultaneously advance sustainable development goals. Offsetting flight emissions is a concrete climate action and part of the sustainable meeting arrangements for Finland’s Presidency. The approach is driven by the need to respond to climate change.
Changes in Finland’s network of diplomatic missions
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is making changes to Finland’s network of diplomatic missions as part of the central government’s savings. The changes arise from decisions to cut the Ministry’s appropriations for operating expenses. The embassies of Finland in Luxembourg, Bratislava (Slovakia) and Ljubljana (Slovenia) will be closed by the end of 2015.

Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić will visit Finland on 28 November. Pusić will have official discussions with Erkki Tuomioja and in the Finnish Parliament she will meet Speaker of Parliament Eero Heinäluoma and representatives of the Grand Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee.
