Wimme Saari performs on the Zagreb World Music Festival NEBO

The main themes of the 3rd Zagreb World Music Festival NEBO (18.-21.11.2004) are music of the Polar Circle and vocal heritage of the national minorities. Wimme Saari, a modern yoik singer from Finland, will perform on the festival by holding a concert as well as a musical workshop.

Zagreb World Music Festival NEBO holds the concept of building more tolerant and human society through music. The intention of the festival is to introduce different cultures and traditional music to Croatian audience. An important part of the NEBO festival is also the concept of workshops. Through workshops, the audience can get involved into the creative process of music making and widen its knowledge on various cultural and musical traditions.

This year's Finnish guest on the NEBO festival is Wimme Saari. Wimme performs the traditional form of Sami singing known as yoik - a freely improvised vocalization. Wimme takes his "free yoik" to a new level: his deeply emotional vocals are the center around which the ambient music floats.
