HUP, EBRD and the Embassy of Finland initiate discussion on education and gender equality

The Speaker of the Parliament of Finland, Ms. Maria Lohela, will visit Croatia on November 2-4, 2016. Issues regarding equality and education will be central during the visit. Finnish basic education has been ranked as one of the best in the world. Diversity, equality and gender awareness are incorporated into teaching and the national core curriculum. Should equality be the key driver in education reform in Croatia as well? How to increase competitiveness and the well-being of small nations like Finland and Croatia through education and gender equality?

On Thursday 3.11. the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) (Link to another website.) (Opens New Window)together with the Croatian Employers' Association (HUP)(Link to another website.) (Opens New Window) and the Embassy of Finland will organize a roundtable discussion on education and gender equality. The event will be opened by the Director General of the Croatian Employers' Association, Mr. Davor Majetić. Ms. Lohela will have a keynote speech followed by a discussion by EBRD’s Vedrana Jelušić Kašić (Director, Regional Head for Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Slovakia), Ivo Špigel (Founder of the ZIP – Zagreb Entrepreneurship Incubator), Hannele Varsa (Resident Twinning Advisor in the EU-funded “Support to the Gender Equality” project) and Mikaela Nylander (Member of the Finnish Parliament). Moderator of the event will be Nataša Novaković, Advisor to the General Director for Labour Market and Human Resources Development and Coordinator of the UN’s Global Compact initiative at HUP.
