Finnish Film Week in Split and Rijeka
Finnish films can be seen in Split 22.-28.3 and in Rijeka 26.-30.3. It is the first time that Finnish films are shown to Croatian audience with this large repertory.
A versatile programme is composed of movies that have gained a great success in Finland and part of the films have also gained success in international screens and competitions.
The Finnish film industry has gone through a significant upswing during the past 10 years and established itself in people's hearts again. The highlight of Finnish film week is the movie called Mother of Mine directed by Klaus Härö. This film has won several international film awards and was official Finnish entry for Academy Award Consideration for best foreign language film.
The new generation Finnish filmmakers have explored the world of young people trying to establish their own identity. Two films, present at the Finnish film week, the Boom and the River, represent well this genre at the Finnish film week. The most sympathetic movie played in the festival is the Pelican man, which is a story of pelican and 10 years old boy and their friendship. The movie is made for both children and adults.
