Applying for Local Cooperation Funds
The Embassy of Finland in Zagreb manages a Fund for Local Cooperation that supports projects of the local Non-Governmental Organisations and other institutions in Croatia.
The purpose of the fund is to support civil society, human rights and different other sectors to promote development in the host country. Through the Fund, the Embassy aims at supporting fulfillment of Croatia's EU accession criteria. The Fund has following priority areas:
1) Support to Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance
2) Gender Equality
3) Minorities
4) Anti-Corruption
5) Environment
The applications can be sent at any time and they should include project proposal and a detailed budget. For more detailed instructions, please see the guidelines attached (in English).
Previous projects
CESI - Center for Education, Counselling and Research, Zagreb. "Active, Visible and Empowered". Consisted of filming a documentary movie about the values of the NGO sector and about raising the credibility of NGO:s. Amount of funding from the Embassy of Finland: 8 000 EUR (2006)
Organization for Civil Initiative (OGI), Osijek. "Promotion and Protection of Human Rights". Provided individuals with pro bono legal advice, promoted the need to protect and respect human rights in many different ways, and provided education on women rights. Amount of funding from the Embassy of Finland: 8 146 EUR (2006), 13 042 EUR (2004)
Dalmatian Solidarity Committee (DOS), Split. "Legal and Information Assistance in Dalmatia". Offered legal assistance to returnees and domestic population with the aim of non-discrimination and protection of human rights. Amount of funding from the Embassy of Finland: 8 000 EUR (2006), 16 000 EUR (2004)
GONG, Zagreb. "Educational Campaign for the Local Elections 2005". The Embassy of Finland funded the design and printing of an educational brochure that was distributed in newspapers. Amount of funding from the Embassy of Finland: 8 000 EUR (2005)
SUNCE Society for Psychological Assistance, Osijek. "Protection of Neglected and Abused Children". Consisted of opening a regional center for neglected and abused children, maintaining a telephone for psychological support, printing promotion material, and informing the local media about the problem as well as about the work of the center. Amount of funding from the Embassy of Finland: 13 000 EUR (2005)
Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, Zagreb. "Summer School of Human Rights". Consisted of conducting the eighth Summer School of Human Rights, with the topic "Collective Rights" that focuses on rights of ethnic minorities, of usage of language, rights to education, etc. Amount of funding from the Embassy of Finland: 11 000 EUR (2005)
