Where to apply for a visa?

If your country of destination is Finland, apply for a visa from the nearest Finnish mission or the visa centre that the mission advises to you. Honorary consuls and consulates cannot grant visas.

It has been agreed with some countries that Finland may be represented by another Schengen state(Link to another website.) (Opens New Window). In such cases, apply for a visa to Finland from the mission of that Schengen state.

Submit your visa application at a mission or visa centre in person. An application cannot be sent by e-mail or telefax.

Applying a Schengen Visa in Hong Kong

In visa matters, the Consulate General of Finland in Hong Kong represents also Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Schengen visa applications can be submitted in Hong Kong through the Finland Visa Application Centre. (Link to another website.)

The visa application shall be lodged in person at the latest 15 days before the departure either in the Visa Application Centre (VAC) or in a mission of the Schengen member state of main destination where the applicant legally resides.

If the main destination of the journey is Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Norway or/and Sweden, the visa must be applied for in the Finnish Visa Application Centre by making an appointment. If the visit includes more than one destination, the visa must be applied for from the country that is the main destination of the journey (according to the length or purpose of the stay). If no main destination can be determined, the visa application is submitted at the mission of the country of the first entry. If the visa is issued by a country other than the main destination, the entry might be denied and visa revoked either before the flight or at the Schengen border.
