Finland’s centenary is filled with joy and dignity
The centenary of Finland’s independence culminates in Finland’s Independence Day, on 6 December. The climax of the centenary is built together, and the programme will be rich and memorable. The official celebrations start on Independence Day Eve, on 5 December, and take place in Finland as well as abroad.

Gender Equality is important in education
Women’s level of education is high in Finland, and girls’ learning outcomes are excellent. In this respect Finnish women have good prerequisites for attaining equality in society and working life. The fields of education are, however, still markedly gender-segregated, and there have been no major changes over the last ten years.

Finnish Aalto satellites make waves in space
At Aalto University in Helsinki, students have built two nanosatellites, both of which were recently launched into space. In the near future, numerous nanosatellites will provide a wealth of new information relevant to the environment, transport and business, including critical challenges such as climate change.
