Ruisrock celebrates its 40th anniversary
Finland's oldest and the second oldest rock festival in the whole of Europe, Ruisrock, will celebrate its 40th anniversary on the following weekend. Over the weekend, the five festival stages will be filled with approximately 60 acts and nearly half of them are from abroad.

Parliament approves construction of two new nuclear power plant units
On 1st July 2010, the Finnish Parliament voted on the two decisions-in-principle approved by the Government in May for the construction of additional nuclear power plants. Parliament voted 120–72 in favour of the decision-in-principle approving the construction of a new power plant unit, Olkiluoto 4, by Teollisuuden Voima Oyj.

1 Mbit Internet access a universal service in Finland from the beginning of July
New universal service obligations for telecom operators will take effect in the beginning of July. This means that a broadband access will be included in basic communications services like telephone or postal services.
