President Mauno Koivisto 1923–2017
Former Finnish president Mauno Koivisto passed away at Meilahti hospital in Helsinki on 12 May 2017 at 21.15. Mauno Koivisto was President of the Republic of Finland for 12 years, from 1982 to 1994. Members of the public and organisations can present their condolences in the online book of condolence for President Koivisto.

Tekes and Finpro to be merged, the role of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will strengthen in the promotion of exports
Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation and Finpro, a provider of internationalisation advisory services, will be merged into a new operator carrying the working title Business Finland. Business Finland will gather all services related to the promotion of innovation funding, exports, investments and tourism under one roof. About 600 experts will be transferred to the new organisation.

Finnish women do sports
The Embassy´s act to introduce gender equality in February is Finnish women in sport. Finnish work on gender equality is founded on the Government Programme and Government´s action plans for gender equality as well as the Sports Act and the policies issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
