Finland’s country image site ThisisFINLAND (finland.fi) has been totally renewed. The new site has an up-to-date look and simpler user experience. The focus for the renewal has been “mobile first”, to ensure that the site works seamlessly across all mobile devices. The site supports seven different languages: the master language is English and on top of it finland.fi is published in Russian, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese.

– It is important both economically and politically to care about a country’s image and especially so in the digital world of today. The new site is a platform, which allows co-operation between all of those doing country image work . Once the site is live, the content creation truly begins, says Petra Theman, the Director for Public Diplomacy.

On the new site the content is created not only by the Public Diplomacy Unit at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs but also other stakeholders doing the country image work. In practice this means that it will be possible to publish news and Social media from, for example,  the Visit Finland site or Finnfacts’ Good News from Finland site.

ThisisFINLAND serves global target groups and provides a wide selection of articles covering Finnish society, habits, people, companies and culture. An archive of 2000 country articles has been moved from the old site to the new. The site also provides opportunities to get to additional information about more popular general topics about Finland such as travelling around, studying in Finland or investing in Finland. ThisisFINLAND does not publish its own news or press releases but there is a newsfeed of the National Broadcaster YLE. You can also find a live webcam and a real-time weather service there.

There’s also a brand new FINLAND Toolbox on the site. This toolbox provides materials and tools to promote Finland for anyone to use, for example Finland related presentations, images, info graphics, videos, e-publications and more. More content will be added to the Toolbox during autumn.
