The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for the organisation of advance voting abroad. The Finnish diplomatic and consular missions and their offices will serve as advance polling stations abroad. Voting will be possible in 242 polling stations in 89 countries.

The presidential election will be held in Finland on Sunday 28 January 2018. Finnish citizens who have reached eighteen years of age have the right to vote in the presidential election.

A passport or some other official ID must be presented at the polling station. The notice of right to vote may be presented but voting is possible also without it.

If one of the candidates receives over half of the votes cast in the first round, he or she is elected President of the Republic. If this does not happen, a second round will be organised on 11 February between the two candidates who received the most votes in the first round.
