WTO SKI RACE 2017 organized by the Permanent Mission of Finland

The annual WTO Ski Race took place this year in Les Gets, France on Saturday the 4th of March. Since team Finland had performed well in the previous race, the Permanent Mission had the honor to organize the competition this year. Organizing the event in 2017 was particularly meaningful for Finland as we are celebrating our 100 years of independence this year. As Ambassador Terhi Hakala concluded at the event; "The celebration of 100 year old Finland is all about togetherness, and I could not think of a better word to describe this day and the Ski Race. We did all this together."

Among the about 300 participants of the WTO Ski Race event, 149 had signed up with their teams to compete in the race. This year, the winning team was WTO with a total of 40 points. The second place went to the UK's team Eddie's Flying Eagles with 36 points and team EFTA won the third prize with 33 points. All teams showed exceptional amount of team spirit and unity.

The individual performances deserve recognition as well. There is without doubt some real talent among the participants of the WTO Ski Race. Here is a link to the excellent individual performances: http://www.vola-racing.com/skialppro/esflesgets(Link to another website.)

During the day, a snowshoeing adventure was organized to get the adrenaline pumping for non-skiers as well. Fortunately, everyone came back in one piece from this challenging snow excursion.

The rest of the day was spent among colleagues and friends in the beautiful mountain scenery while chatting and sipping blueberry juice. Here is a link to the photos taken during the event: https://www.flickr.com/photos/147799979@N04/albums(Link to another website.)

Thank you dear participants for making this day so joyful!
