Upcoming event on COVID19 recovery, Aid for Trade and Circular Economy, March 24 2021

The Permanent Missions of Finland, Kenya and the Netherlands and the International Trade Centre, in collaboration with the African Development Bank, the Institute for European Environmental Policy and the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, will host a joint virtual event at the upcoming WTO Aid for Trade Stocktaking Event. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 24th at 11.00am-12.30pm (CET) via Zoom platform.

Focusing on the interlinkages between the COVID19 recovery, Aid for Trade and Circular Economy, the event aims to share experiences and tools available for countries to boost post-COVID-19 recovery, sustainable development and green transition. By showcasing initiatives and concrete examples of circular economy and discussing implications for developing countries, the session explores the possibilities of Aid for Trade to support countries in e.g. implementing national roadmaps, mitigating challenges and creating trade opportunities.

The distinguished speakers of the event include H.E. Ambassador of Kenya to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, Dr. Cleopa Kilonzo Mailu; Dr. Anthony Nyong, Professor, Director for Climate Change and Green Growth at the African Development Bank (AfDB); Mr. Robert Koech, Managing Director of Siomo Tea Factory; Ms. Colette Van Der Ven, Consultant, International Trade Lawyer and Founder of TULIP Consulting; Mr. Kari Herlevi, Project Director at the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and the moderator of the event, Ms. Marianne Kettunen, Head of Programme at the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP).
