New ambassador Terhi Hakala

Ambassador Terhi Hakala started as the permanent representative of Finland to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva on the 1st of September.

Ambassador Hakala launched her long international career in the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1988. She was the ambassador of Finland to India from 2009 to 2012 and before that she was the head of the OSCE Mission to Georgia. From 2004 to 2007 Hakala was the roving ambassador to Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Before starting in Geneva this autumn she was the Director General to the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Finland.

"I'm looking forward to this autumn and my calendar has already started to fill up. Finland will continue being active and constructive in Geneva in the UN sectors, trade and disarmament."
