National Coalition Party, SDP and True Finns the biggest parties in the Finnish parliamentary election

The National Coalition Party became the biggest party in the 2011 Finnish parliamentary election. The National Coalition gained 44 seats, the Social Democrats 42 seats and the True Finns 39 seats of the total of 200 seats in the Finnish Parliament.

The National Coalition Party gained 20.4%, Social Democratic Party 19.1% and the True Finns 19.0% of the votes cast. The Centre Party secured 35 seats and 15.8% of the votes. The Left Alliance gained 14 seats, the Green League 10 seats, the Swedish People’s Party 9 seats, the Christian Democrats 6 seats, and one seat went to other parties. In terms of percentages, the Left Alliance received 8.1%, the Green League 7.2%, the Swedish People’s Party 4.3% and the Christian Democrats 4.0% of the votes cast.

The True Finns increased their seats by 34 MPs. The biggest loss was suffered by the Centre Party that lost 16 seats. The National Coalition lost 6 seats and the Greens 5 seats. SDP and the Left Alliance lost 3 seats each, and the Christian Democrats one. The number of seats held by the Swedish People’s Party remained unchanged.
