Finland gives 10,5 million euros of humanitarian assistance to United Nations High Commissariat for Refugees

 

Finland’s Minister for International Development Ms. Heidi Hautala has allocated 10,5 million euros of humanitarian assistance to UNHCR’s activities. 4,4 million euro is allocated for the East and the Horn of Africa region, 2,3 million for the South-West Asia region (Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran), 1,5 million for the Central Africa and Great Lakes region, 1,5 million for Yemen and 800 000 for the Western Africa region. Finland’s Permanent Representative Ambassador Hannu Himanen signed the agreeement with the UNHCR’s Head of Donor Relations Unit Panos Moumtzis on Friday 9th of March 2012.

Finland is a member of UNHCR’s largest donors group and UNHCR is Finland’s biggest recipient of humanitarian assistance.
