Minister of Defence Jussi Niinistö visits London this week. Minister Niinistö attends the event to mark the reaching of full operating capability of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), led by Great Britain, and to sign a common memorandum of understanding (CMOU).

Finnish photographer excels at depicting metal music
Perhaps it’s no surprise that Tina Korhonen, a photographer known for her portrayals of metal and rock culture (see slideshow), comes from Finland, a hub for metal music. She is nominated for Best Photographer in the 2018 Heavy Music Awards* (voting open until June 27).

President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins delivered the Sixth Annual Harri Holkeri Lecture
The sixth annual Harri Holkeri Lecture, organised by the Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice, and co-sponsored by the Finnish Government, took place on 29th of May at the Queens University in Belfast. Lecture series is organised to mark the contribution to building peace in Ireland of the late Finnish Prime Minister, Harri Holkeri.

Espoo named as one of the top seven cities in the Intelligent Communities Awards 2018
Espoo has been named as one of the top seven cities in the international Intelligent Communities Awards 2018. Other finalists include cities from Canada, Australia and Taiwan. The winner city will be announced at the ICF Global Summit on 4-6 June in London.
