Eight up in our article series introducing the Honorary Consuls of Finland in the United Kingdom is Stephen Bolton. Mr Bolton was appointed as Honorary Consul of Finland for Nottingham in April 2001 in recognition of his close connections and trade links with Finland.

FCP for alumni starts on 10 June
ThisisFINLAND’s first Foreign Correspondents Programme (FCP) for alumni will bring to Finland ten journalists and media professionals who have participated in the programme in earlier years. The alumni programme will take place from 10 to 15 June. We aim to offer the participants an updated picture of Finland.

Finland wants to encourage equality and give the world a word – their all -inclusive personal pronoun, hän
Like many languages, Finnish is full of loanwords – words that were, at some point, borrowed from other languages and incorporated into Finnish. Finland would now like to give the rest of the world a word, to encourage international discussion about equality and inclusivity, and to support everyone who is working to promote them. The word is: hän.

European elections 2019 – advance voting in Britain
In the European Parliament elections of spring 2019, advance voting will be organised in Britain from 15th to 18th May. There will be nine advance polling stations in the UK. Check advance polling stations and times from the list below. It is also possible to vote by post.

Finnish Parliamentary Elections – 2494 voters at the advance voting in Britain
The advance voting for the Finnish Parliamentary Elections of 2019 in Britain was possible from 3rd to 6th of April. In Britain there were in total 2494 voters, of which 1644 voted at the Finnish Embassy in London.

Finnish model to tackle homelessness in the spotlight in London
