Press release 119/2015
29 April 2015

Finland has assumed responsibility for the coordination of EU consular cooperation in Nepal starting Wednesday on 29 April. About 9,000 EU citizens are still in Nepal after the country was struck by an earthquake last weekend. Somewhat over a thousand of them have not been reached yet.

In addition to the Embassy of Finland, only the UK, France, Germany and Denmark have an embassy in Kathmandu. Several countries have sent temporary reinforcements to the city. Other states, including the US, are also participating in the cooperation. A specialist from the European External Service is also temporarily working at the Embassy of Finland.
