What is the selection process?

A total of 14 representatives will be selected. The Finnish embassies in each country will make the selections in cooperation with the Communications Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

Those selected will be contacted by mid April, 2022 with information regarding travel arrangements.

What does the programme include?

The 2022 Foreign Correspondents’ Programme starts on June 5 and ends on June 11. This year it focuses on climate diplomacy and Finnish solutions for reaching carbon neutrality by 2035, and on Finland’s foreign policy, which builds upon and promotes multilateralism, rules-based international order, human rights, and equality. You will have the chance to meet Finnish influencers and professionals, visit a media company, and visit businesses, institutions and cultural sites.

The relatively short duration of this year’s programme places certain limitations on it. Therefore, we reserve the right to make changes as necessary.

If the participant wishes to add extra days at the beginning or end of the programme, it is very possible, but unfortunately accommodation for those days is at her/his own expense.

What costs are covered?

The programme covers travel costs to and from Finland, local travel in Helsinki, accommodation, and the daily programme, including transportation and some meals. The programme does not cover medical insurance, per diem allowance, or meals not listed in the programme.
