Summary of Prime Minister Katainen’s speech at the plenary session of Parliament on 19 July 2012.

The agreed arrangement is based on the model provided by the previous arrangement related to the Greek programme and on the Eurogroup collateral agreement of 3 October 2011.

On Wednesday 23 May, Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen attended the informal European Council in Brussels. Meeting for the first time after the parliamentary election of Greece and the presidential election of France, the EU Heads of State or Government focused on finding common ways to ensure Europe's economic development and growth.

The Prime Minister of Finland Mr. Jyrki Katainen encourages European Union not to choose between growth and austerity when it is seeking long term solutions on how to boost European economy but rather to find ways of having both - growth and austerity.
