Matti Vanhanen presented Finland's EU Presidency priorities at the European Parliament

Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen delivered a speech outlining the priorities and main objectives for Finland’s EU Presidency at the plenary session of the European Parliament.

In his speech on 5th July, Vanhanen emphasised that the European Union is community of values that exists for its citizens. He said that during its Presidency, Finland will endeavour to turn the Union’s gaze outwards, and forwards. "We have to consider what kind of a Union we want in 10 to 20 years time and how to achieve it."
