CHEF FOR AMBASSADOR/PR OF FINLAND

The Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union is looking for a chef in Brussels.

As the chef for the Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU, your duties include comprehensive planning and implementation of various events (e.g. breakfasts, lunches, dinners, receptions) organized in the official residence of the Permanent Representative of Finland to the EU or in the office of the Permanent Representation. Your responsibilities are comprehensive starting from menu planning, cost calculation and procurement of raw ingredients up to a representative implementation and presentation of food. The work is independent and versatile, although the work is done in cooperation with other members of a small team (in total two chefs and a butler).

We are looking for a professional chef who wants to support Finnish advocacy work in Belgium and the EU with one’s own work. We expect you to have a genuine passion for food and different food cultures. We would like you to have an open mind to expand your own recipes in accordance with the representation's wishes since the needs and themes of the events vary widely.

What we require:

You are required to have at least 5 years of versatile experience in demanding food industry jobs, a driver's license, a suitable education, and at least satisfactory English language skills. Knowledge of Finnish language is an advantage. Being familiar with Nordic food culture is an asset or we hope you have a strong desire to learn more about it. We value good IT skills, a cooperative and flexible attitude, and a self-directed approach to work.

This job is a position of locally employed staff and is subject to Belgian employment law. The official job title is ‘Catering and Housekeeping Attendant’ according to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. Administratively the job falls under the Joint Administration of Finnish missions in Brussels. The main locations of work are the official residence of the Permanent Representative of Finland and the office of the Permanent Representation to the EU. The position will first be filled for a fixed period of one year from 01 January 2025 to 31 December 2025 or by agreement, after which continuation is possible and desirable. The weekly working time is 38 hours. The salary for this position is between 2900-3100€/month gross. The final salary is determined within this range based on the skills and experience of the candidate. The candidate must hold an independent right to live and work in Belgium and be prepared to ensure that the right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
