Foreign Minister Tuomioja to Tallinn to attend the conference on human rights on the Internet

The fourth conference of the Coalition for Freedom Online (FOC) takes place in Tallinn on 28–29 April. Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will attend the Freedom Online Coalition Ministerial Meeting to be held on the first day of the conference. At this high-level meeting, the ministers will discuss the Coalition’s activities to support the implementation of human rights on the Internet.

The FOC, formed in 2011, is an intergovernmental coalition that focuses on promoting human rights on the Internet. Finland joined the coalition in 2012. There are 23 members of the coalition, from various continents. The newest member of the coalition, Japan, joined in April 2014.

The conference will also approve the FOC’s recommendations for freedom online. The recommendations focusing on the implementation of human rights in the online environment have been prepared in cooperation between the FOC countries, NGOs and representatives of enterprises.
